Our Founder's Journey

Frank Castillo arrived from Mexico at the age of 12 without knowing a single word of English.

Through dedication and determination, he worked hard in school, learned English, and pursued trade skills at Fox Tech High School. Encouraged by his father, Frank took sheet metal and welding classes, graduating with hands-on skills that would shape his future.

After high school, Frank worked multiple sheet metal fabrication jobs while serving in the Air Force Reserves. Following two layoffs in six months, he took a leap of faith—with his wife’s support—to start his own company.

In December 1980, Casteel Manufacturing was born in a two-car garage.

Growth & Success

Frank’s reputation for hard work, expertise, and problem-solving earned him strong relationships—even with competitors who helped him by renting equipment in the early years.

Casteel quickly expanded:

  • Early Years: Operated from a rented warehouse for 4 years.

  • 1985: Built the current fabrication shop at 3747 Pitluk Avenue, San Antonio, TX.

  • Today: Two fabrication areas + office space, recognized as one of San Antonio’s top sheet metal and stainless steel fabrication shops.
